William Joseph “Bill” Schodroski
William Joseph “Bill” Schodroski,72, of Quincy, Illinois passed away at Blessing Hospital on April 4, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1953 in St. Louis, MO, the son of John and Margaret (Smith) Schodroski. He married Nancy A. Stockton on September 6, 1981 in Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. She survives.
Bill lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. He graduated from Quincy College in 1977 and went on to build a dedicated career, working as a materials manager at Harris Corporation and later at Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits. No matter where he worked, Bill was known for his kindness, reliability, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he encountered.
A devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Bill’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He generously gave his time and talents to his church community, serving as a lector, helping care for the church, and assisting with funeral lunches. He was active in Cursillo, participated in a Marriage Encounter weekend, and spent years supporting engaged couples through Evening for the Engaged, helping them build strong, faith-filled marriages.
Bill had a deep love for life’s simple joys. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan and rarely missed a game, finding happiness (and the occasional frustration) in every season. Known for his fun-loving spirit and great sense of humor, Bill had a way of making everyone feel welcome, and he truly never met a stranger. To many, he was the neighborhood “watchman,” always looking out for others with quiet care and concern.
Above all, Bill was a devoted family man. He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely and took immense pride in being present in their lives. He was described as the “ultimate dad,” a title he carried with humility and joy. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who knew him.
His strong faith in Jesus guided him throughout his life, and it was evident in the compassion, patience, and the love he extended to others every day.
In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, Bill is survived by his children: William “Will” Schodroski, Maggie (fiancé Ed Jackson) Kistner, and Elizabeth (Tanner) Terwelp, all of Quincy and his four cherished grandchildren: Emmy and Dax Kistner, Linus and Rhodes Terwelp. He is also survived by three siblings: Victoria Jenkins and Rita Parker both of Afton, MO and Robert (Donna) Schodroski of Lexington Park, MD.
One aunt: Irene Ramen of Newport, VT, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Jerry, James, and Mark Schodroski; two brothers-in-law: Michael Jenkins and Larry Parker and his father and mother-in-law, Kent and Janet Stockton.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:15 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, followed by Interment at Greenmount Cemetery.

To the family
Bill was very nice with a great smile even when he was retired…. especially when he’d be at Hy-Vee shopping. He would say ” hello. ”
We lost a wonderful man. I can’t believe it, I just seen Bill the other day. I know he’s in a better place.
You just don’t know when you’re going to lose a loved one . Prayers to the family. RIP BILL

Nancy, sorry to hear about your husband. My prayers will be with you and your family.
I didn’t really know my second cousin, Bill Schodroski but wish that I had. He sounds like a wonderful person deeply engaged with his family and community. My mother, Ann Speno was his mother’s, Margaret’s, godmother. He and I have something else in common. We both lived in Quincy, IL. When I was married in 1961, my new bride and I lived in a beautiful old house, built in 1886, with a cupola on the roof. I worked as a journalist at that time for McGraw-Hill, and my office was in that beautiful old house.
My deep condolences to the family.
Nancy, sorry for the loss of your husband. May your memories help comfort you during this difficult time. Prayers for peace and comfort.
