W. Roger Bowness

W. Roger Bowness, age 90, of Maywood, MO, formerly of Eldon, MO, died on Saturday, March 14, 2026 in his home. He was born on August 16, 1935 in Fairfax, MO, the son of Henry R. & Lelia Isabelle (Boone) Bowness. Roger served in the United States Army. He married Paula Jean (Clapp) Willing on May 24, 2003. She survives.

Roger was the owner and operator of Bowness Auto Parts in Eldon, MO for over 30 years. Over the years, Roger also taught 7th grade science, was an auctioneer and realtor. He retired from Autozone in Quincy.

Roger enjoyed fishing, skiing, and golfing. He was a member of Kiwanis Ski Club, the 4-H and the FFA. He was Mizzou alumni and went to every football and basketball game that he could. Roger was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Eldon for 70 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Elks Club in Quincy and the Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity.

IN addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Rona Hogan (Bill) of Texas and Jamie O’Neal (Alex) of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Kara Ritchie (Chris), Kylee Ford (Patrick), Kasey Hankins (Elijah), Emma Cookson (Zach), Ellie Bias (Wendell, Jr.), Shyleigh Morazzano (Michael), Easton Hoyt (Kiersten) and Xavier O’Neal.
10 Great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Robert Bowness along with his wife Ann and Janice Walker along with her husband Bill.

The family would also like to thank Melissa Young, nurse and dear family friend, who cared so well for Roger over the last few months.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery by the United States Army Honor Detail and the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail. Memorials may be made to Madison Park Christian Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
