Stanley E. Magness
Stanley E. Magness, age 78, of Quincy, died on Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on August 11, 1946 in Batesville, Arkansas, the son of Jake & Lorene (McClure) Magness. He married Nancy Baer on October 8, 1966 in Abingdon, IL. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2023.
Stanley worked for Maytag in Galesburg for over thirty years. In Quincy, Stanley worked for Frese Nursery and also at the Quincy Mall.
Stanley enjoyed fishing and watching drag racing. He also enjoyed gardening and yardwork. Stanley was always known for his strong work ethic and friendly personality, He enjoyed his morning coffee outings, visiting with his friends.
Stanley is survived by his children: April Baldwin (Carl Watson) of Hannibal, MO and Heather (Matt) Hillhouse of Galesburg, IL; Grandchildren: Tori Baldwin (Gavin Mulkey) of Lenexa, KS and Jackson and Olivia Hillhouse both of Galesburg, IL; Siblings: Jimmy Magness (Mary Jane Cady), Sarah Pearcy, Peggy White, Frances Dugger (Tom Howard) and Larry Magness (Barbara).
A sister-in-law: Bettie Magness. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Gregory Baldwin, siblings Kenneth Magness and Wendell Magness.
Cremation rites will be accorded. No formal services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to Harvest Outreach Ministries. Duker & Haugh Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements. Messages may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com.
He was such a nice man who always had a smile on his face.
Stan and Nancy were good friends with my parents, Carol and ernie Watters. Remember the St. Louis trips and fishing we did. Heather and April you had great parents and did I. We were lucky kids. RIP. Stanley.

I am so sorry for your loss. Stan and Nancy were both wonderful people. I remember when I was growing up and they lived at the end of the block they were always so nice.

We were so sorry to hear of Stans passing! We had coffee with him & Roy many mornings at the Coach House! He was a pleasure to be around!

I worked with Stan for many years at Frese Nursery. He was such a good friend and coworker. Stan was the type of man who never backed off from a challenge and would do anything for anyone.
