Shirley Marold

Shirley J. Marold, age 82, of the Illinois Veterans Home, died on Thursday, January 25, 2024 in the Illinois Veterans Home. She was born on September 8, 1941 in Quincy the daughter of George and Selma (Vollrath) Kimbrell. She married Richard Marold on May 18, 1963. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1995.

Shirley was a Registered Nurse in the Quincy area for many years and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

She is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Kim Marold; Julie Morris (Steve Cookson); Steven Marold (Tracy) and Angela Marold all of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Kyle Morris (Emily Dedert), Ryan Morris (Taylor Rebman), Tyler Marold (Alex Cornell), Sofia Marold (Kevin Cortopassi), Sydni Marold, Ciara Marold, Camron Marold, and Cayden Washington.
GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Charlie Jo
SIBLINGS: Ronnie Kimbrell (Kim), George Kimbrell (Donna), Becky Mester, Jackie Sprinkle and Nancy Kistner (Jeff).
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    So sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. I worked with her for many years at St. Mary Hospital. She was a great nurse. Prayers for her family.
