Robert Johannessen
Robert Johannessen, age 82, of Quincy, died on Saturday, October 11, 2025 in his home. He was born on January 3, 1943 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Schaefer) Johannessen. He was a 1961 graduate of West Aurora High School and received a Bachelors Degree in Engine Power Technology from Bradley University in 1970. He served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1963. He married Patricia Mae Yonk on April 25, 1964 in St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church in Aurora, IL. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2023.
Robert was the founder and chairman of the board of Rack Builders, Inc. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Robert is survived by:
HIS CHILDREN: Amy Johannessen, Jason (Heidi) Johannessen, and John (Melissa) Johannessen all of Quincy.
HIS GRANDCHILDREN: Kaitlin (Doug) Whiston, Caeden Johannessen, Christopher (Wyatt) Engelmann, Megan (Nicholas Stray) Johannessen, and Emily Johannessen.
HIS GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Jake and Rory Whiston, Adaline and Robert Stray.
SIBLINGS: Joyce Davis, Bill (Ginny) Johannessen and Tom (Kathy) Johannessen.
SISTER IN LAW AND BROTHER IN LAW: Nancy (Ellis) Van Meter.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his wife, Robert was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother in law: Dick Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Memorial Donations can be made to the QCES Foundation for the Bob and Pat Johannessen Memorial Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
