Robert Dean Houghton

Robert Dean Houghton, age 69, of Quincy, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in his home surrounded by loved ones. Robert was born on June 27, 1955, in Quincy, a son to Norman Dean and Bonnie Jean (O’Dear) Houghton. They both preceded him in death.

Robert was a heavy machine operator and worked for the Adams County Highway Department for 32 years until his retirement in April of 2011. When he had free time, Robert liked to fish or watch the Chicago Cubs. His most cherished time was spent with his family and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.

Robert is survived by his children: Stephanie Renee Dunker, of Ursa, IL and John Robert Houghton of Quincy. Siblings: Debbie Houghton, Mike Houghton-Gloria, and Mary Jenkins. Grandchildren: Kaileigh (Eric) Fisher; Hayden Goodwin; Jarett, Brodie, and Gavvin Dunker. Great-grandchildren: Karter Miller; Adalynn Derry, Hudson, Rhett, and Cullan Fisher; and Rhenleigh Sherwood.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister: Patty Lynn Griffith; Nephew: Todd Jason Griffith; and brother-in-law: Randy Jenkins.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Debbie, I’m so sorry to hear of Bobby’s passing. I have good memories of growing up in the neighborhood with you both. May your memories help you through the toughest days.
