Phyllis Jane Sparrow Koch

Phyllis Jane Sparrow Koch age 84 of Mendon, IL went to meet her Lord and Savior on January 18, 2019 at Blessing Hospital Quincy, IL. She was born November 1, 1934 in Quincy, IL to Frank and Helen Hayes Sparrow. Phyllis married her high school sweetheart Francis (Fritz) Koch on December 30, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Quincy IL.

Phyllis was a graduate of Notre Dame High School.

Phyllis worked at Winks Grocery Store, Freesen Construction and was manager of Manpower Temporary Services in Quincy and Hannibal for 10 years before retiring in January 1997
She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy, IL. Phyllis was a member of Gardner Museum, German Heritage, and she had participated in Quest, TEC, Cursillo and Marriage Encounter. Phyllis loved the outdoors, deer hunting, mushroom hunting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, cooking for her family was her favorite.

Survivors include: Five Daughters: Peggy (Gerald) Kirkpatrick of Memphis, Mo, Cindy (John) Scheiter of Hallsville, Mo, Toni (Dan) Kamphaus of Fowler, IL, Pam. (Mark) Koch of Peoria, AZ, Teresa (Dennis) Koch of Peoria, AZ, Three sons: Tim (Tammy) Koch of Fowler, IL, Matthew Koch of Quincy, IL, John Paul Koch of Mendon, IL.

1 sister: Helen Vollbracht of Quincy, IL and a brother in law Maurice (Morry) Koch of Mendon, IL and several nieces and nephews;

Grandchildren: Joseph Siebrasse of Amaretto, TX; Dennis Carl Kirkpatrick Quincy, IL; Dustin Kirkpatrick of Memphis, MO; Chad Scheiter of Liberty, MO; Nicholas Scheiter and Shawn Scheiter of both of Hallsville, MO; Heather Moeller of Camp Point, IL; Ryan Kamphaus and Randy Koch both of Quincy, IL; William Koch and Tia Koch both of Peoria, AZ; Kacie Koch, Johnathon Koch, Tyler Koch all of Fowler, IL; Cody Benjamin of Hamilton, IL; Samantha Benjamin of Payson, IL; Alexius Brewer of Canton, IL & Jaylin Lubbert of Quincy, IL.

Great grandchildren: Nicole and Joseph Siebrasse; Jillian Kirkpatrick; Dylan Kirkpatrick; Davarion McNeal; Cara Koch; Emma Koch; Connor Koch; Lily Koch; Levi Lenane; Carter Lenane; Caleb Lenane; Tucker Moeller and Hunter Moeller; Journey Kamphaus; Kaden Kamphaus; Colten Scheiter; Addilyn Scheiter; Maddison Kay Powers and Harper Leigh Logsdon.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis E Koch (Fritz), her parents, her brother Elmer Sparrow, a sister Margaret Thompson, a brother and sister at birth. Brothers in law and sisters in law and a great-granddaughter Rosalie Koch.

SERVICES: 9:30 A.M. Thursday January 24 at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy, IL.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Quincy, IL.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday January 23 at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.

Memorials: may be made to the Kidney Association or Blessing Hospice Foundation

    I remember both Phyllis and Fritz at one time good members of St. Rose parish in the 80s up to 2005.
    Great people warm and good all over.
    I’ll have a mass said for them at St. Rose.

    I am so sorry for your loss! I just saw your mom up at the nursing home. We had a nice visit. I So enjoying coming over to your house and spending time with you guys. Sorry we will be out of town during the services. Prayers for all of you at this time of sorrow.
