Pauline M. A. Uppinghouse, age 92, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Plainville, IL died on Thursday, April 10, 2025 in the Home. She was born on May 9, 1932 in Quincy, the daughter of Maurice and Clara (Hoebing) Wand. After Clara’s premature death, Pauline was helped to be raised by Maurice’s second wife, Emily (Peters) Wand. She married Donald L. M. Uppinghouse on August 12, 1959 in Payson. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2005.

Pauline was of the Catholic Faith. She was a homemaker to her family. Her life revolved around her family and she loved all the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed nature and being outdoors.

Pauline is survived by: HER FIVE DAUGHTERS: Rhonda Uppinghouse; Jan Hutton and her friend Jim Spencer all of Macomb, IL; Lisa Haught and her husband Mike of Hannibal; Carla Uppinghouse of Peoria, IL and Katrina Albert and her husband Ted of Golden, IL.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, and siblings: Simon, Joe, and Henry Wand, Rita Dreier, Sr. Clare (Florence) Wand, Helen Friedhoff, Margaret Klauser, Theresa Halfpap, and Angela Wand in infancy.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 1:30 at the Payson New Cemetery. There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the graveside services. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held at The Crossing following graveside services. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
