Paul Thomas Bower

Paul Thomas Bower, age 84, of Quincy, died on June 14, 2026 in the Sunset Home. He was born on September 15, 1941 in Quincy, IL the son of Henry and Florence (Wisman) Bower.
He was an insurance agent with Woodman Accident and Life for many years.

Paul graduated from Quincy Notre Dame and was a member of the 1956-57 Boys Basketball Team that won the regional title. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. In 1962 and 1963, Paul was the Quincy City Golf Champion. On August 19th of 1980, Paul shot a 62 at Spring Lake Country Club, the course record.

He is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Laura Bowen, Lynn Coyle (Scott) and Paula Stevens (Brent).
One sister: Frances Scheufele (Larry)
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: James Bower and Jack Bower.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 10:30 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    I have fond memories of uncle Paul. I remember him along with his brothers as a little guy, they were giants. He loved my mother’s banana bread and he made the best apple sauce with little to no sugar added. There’s a special place in heart for the who will always be remembered as Uncle.

    I had a great opportunity to care for Mr. Bower here at Bradford Villa he and I were always listening and singing to the oldies and we shared a lot of life lessons that we had learned from I will definitely miss his laugh and him telling me keep on smiling
