Pamela Howald

In remembering a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering faith, we announce the peaceful passing of Pamela Howald, affectionately known as “Miss Pam,” on May 28, 2026 in Blessing Hospital surrounded by her family. Born on October 17, 1948, in Hancock County, Illinois, Pam was the cherished daughter of Delbert and Geneva Robinson, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother James, her Aunt and Uncle, Merle and Vera Winfield, and her Uncle Herbert Stopp.

Pam leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted children, son James Howald and daughter Sandy Howald, along with their father, John Howald Jr. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the eyes of her three grandchildren Paige Howald-Burton, Madison Burton and Drew Paben, as well as her seven great-grandchildren Surinitee Abbey, Hadley Bowen, Atticus Crabtree, Kane Thomas, Meilani Miller, Kapri Miller and Venice Miller whose lives she enriched with her boundless affection and warmth.

Pam was a woman whose life’s work was centered around the nurturing and care of children. As a childcare provider, she opened her home to little ones, later extending her nurturing touch to the Kiddie Corner Daycare Center and the Lauretta M. Eno Early Learning Center at Blessing Hospital. Her passion for children was evident in every smile she facilitated and every heart she touched.

A devoted Christian with a strong faith in God, Pam was an active member of The Crossing 929, where her faith was both her anchor and her beacon. She lived her faith through actions, whether it was joining in spontaneous prayer with a friend or stranger, or offering a kind word or gesture to uplift those around her. Her prayers were a constant source of comfort and strength to many, and her dedication as a prayer partner was a testament to her deep commitment to her faith and community.

“Miss Pam” was a woman who truly never met a stranger. Her warm and outgoing nature allowed her to connect with others in an instant, turning acquaintances into friends with her infectious smile, endearing laughter, and heartfelt compliments. Her joy for life was contagious, and she delighted in bringing happiness to others with her quirky jokes and generous spirit.

In her quiet moments, Pam found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed the solace of a good book, the challenge of crossword puzzles and word searches, and the creativity of crafting. Hallmark movies brought her joy, as did spending precious time with her family, who were the center of her world.

Pamela Howald’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith. Her life was a testament to the belief that every person has the power to make the world a better place through simple acts of kindness and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

In accordance with the family’s wishes cremation services have taken place. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Pam’s name to help with expenses.
