Mina H. Geise

Mina H. Geise, age 96, of Quincy, died on Thursday, January 16, 2025. She was born on October 14, 1928, in Quincy, the daughter of Luther E. and Thelma Hulett.
Mina was a long-time resident of Quincy, Illinois. She attended Quincy High where she was a cheerleader and graduated Class of 46. After graduation she moved to St Louis where she quickly secured a job with AT&T as a switchboard operator. Not long after moving to St. Louis she met Archie K. Smith, and the couple married July 18, 1953. They pursued a dream to start a business and found that opportunity in Belleville Illinois. Mina was very active in serving her community and was a member of Zonta International, The Junior League and The Chamber of Commerce, just to mention a few. Mina always enjoyed helping others and as a result made many friends.

In 1972 Mina’s life changed after she was divorced. She returned to Quincy where she rekindled a relationship with her high school sweetheart, Robert Geise and ultimately, they married. They were long-time members of Spring Lake Country Club where they enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and socializing with a wide circle of friends. She was active with the Ladies Golf Leagues and the Ladies Bowling Leagues. Mina pursued being a realtor and secured a job at Mungo Realty where she was mentored by some of the best in the area. There she developed a close circle of friends.
Mina continued to be an avid supporter of her community well into her eighties where she volunteered at Blessing Hospital and Sunset Home. She was a faithful supporter of many national charities as well as the Quincy Humane Society.

Mina was well known to many for her love of life and charity toward others. She never knew a stranger and was always there when needed. These qualities yielded to her beautiful lifelong friendships that were so very dear to her.

Mina was preceded in death by her husband Robert Geise, her parents Luther and Thelma Hulett her sister Darlene Burnham, and niece Judy Burnham.
She is survived by her daughter Ann McIntyre of Rockwall, Texas. Her greatly beloved granddaughter Natalie Sorrells and her husband Cody of Heath Texas. Her great grandchildren, Whitney Paige and Landon Dane Sorrells of Heath Texas, and her niece Gay Burnham Trost and her husband Walter of St. Charles Missouri, along with several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 1:30 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 until 1:30 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.

    So sorry for your loss. Mina helped me find my first house in 1996 & always sent my son an Easter card! She was a great friend I will cherish the memories of her!

    Mina was a wonderful lady. She was dear friends with my grandmother, Pat Frankel. I have many fond memories of Mina when I was a little girl. She was always so much fun. ❤️

    I will miss you so dang much. I always looked forward to spring break and summer vacation because I was spending it with Mina (my Aunt Nervy). I am so very lucky to have grown up with you in my life. You were always so much fun. I miss and love you so very much.

    I grew up on Forrest Ave. in Quincy, just down the street from the Hulett family. Mina was a little older than I, but was always interested in what I was doing and as long as I was in the Quincy area, kept up with me. She was a very nice person from a very nice family.

    My condolences to the famiky. Mina was quite a gal: Just like her Mother. Beautiful inside & out, classy, smart & ful of fun. She will be remembered with kind thoughts and a smile.. May our Father welcome her to his heavenly home and grant peace & comfort to her family during this time of sorrow.
