Michelle “Shelly” Ellis, of Quincy, IL age 63, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, in her home. She was born on September 07,1963, in Quincy, a daughter of Roy and Nancy (Scheufele) Ellis.

Shelly worked as a dedicated home health aide, caring for others with the same spirited determination that defined her life. Purple was her favorite color, and in her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and later spending evenings watching dirt track racing. She never minded a little dirt in her beer. Shelly was especially known for her beautifully crafted Christmas candy, a tradition that family and friends looked forward to every year. She also had a passion for crafting and found great joy in creating handmade gifts for the people she loved. With a feisty personality and a heart full of honesty, she loved sitting around, BS’ing with those she loved. Shelly never had a filter and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her authenticity, humor, generosity, and unforgettable spirit touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Shelly is survived by her stepmother: Linda Ellis; Children: Richard Ellis and Marissa Ellis; Grandchildren: Kaylee and Leah; Siblings: Christine Clayton, Bob Ellis, Roy (Jayme) Ellis, Jr., and Vickie Ellis; Aunts & Uncles: Jean Ann (Bill) Lantz, and Frank E. (Bev) Wellman, Jr. Many other relatives also survive.

In addition to her parents, Shelly was preceded in death by her uncle Richard DeWeese and sister-in-law Lisa Ellis.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Shelly’s life will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Adams County Famer’s Bureau, located at 330 South 36th Street Ste. 2, Quincy, IL 62301, with food and beverages provided. Guests are encouraged to wear purple or their favorite dirt track racing t-shirt. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
