Marylan Harig, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away on October 9, 2026, at the age of 85. Born in Quincy on May 7, 1941, Marylan, a longtime parishioner of St. Francis Catholic Church, lived a life marked by faith, friendship, and family.

Marylan was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Mary Catherine Harig; her sister, Alice Brown; her brother, John Harig; her brother-in-law, Larry Zanger; and her great-nephews, Ryan Martin and Easton Zanger.

She is survived by sisters, Donna Zanger of Quincy, Illinois, Nancy Martin of Bloomington, Illinois, and Diane (Tony) Kattelman of Cedar Hill, Missouri.

Marylan was a proud aunt to her nieces: Tamara Martin, Michelle (Ron) Wittler, Amy (Vernon) Knight, Stacey Martin, Laurie (Emily) Ettner, Angie (John) Geiselman, Robyn Kruzan, and Sarah (Randy) LeFarth; and her nephews: Eric (Kathy) Zanger, Jeff (Shannon) Zanger, Rich (Ruth) Martin, Tim Martin, Randy (Amanda) Martin, Joe (Jessica) Harig, Scott (Christina) Kattelman, Jay Zanger, Billy Martin, and Adam (Jessica) Kattelman. She also leaves behind 49 great-nieces/nephews and 11 great-great nieces/nephews.

A proud graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School, Marylan spent many years working for Western Catholic Union and later Check Brokerage, where she was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and friendly personality.

Marylan was truly a social butterfly. She never met a stranger and found joy in conversation, laughter, and spending time with friends. One of Marylan’s greatest passions was bowling. An avid bowler for more than forty years, she enjoyed the camaraderie, competition, and countless friendships that came through the sport. The bowling lanes became a second home where many memories were made.

Marylan loved all sports. She cheered on all of the local teams, rooted for the Chicago Bears and never missed the Olympics. She was a big San Diego Padres fan but an even bigger baseball fan. She enthusiastically supported the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Los Angeles Dodgers as a way of sharing in her brothers’ and sisters’ favorite teams. Baseball gave her another reason to connect with family and friends and sparked many lively conversations over the years.

Marylan was a breast cancer survivor and will be remembered for her kind heart and unwavering love for her family. She cherished every visit, every phone call, and every opportunity to celebrate life’s moments with those she loved.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Calvary Cemetery. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey or T-shirt in honor of Marylan. Memorial contributions may be made to Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
