Margaret M. Utterback

Margaret M. Utterback, age 73, of Camp Point, died on Monday, September 29, 2025 in Hannibal Regional Hospital. She was born on August 25, 1952 in Quincy, the daughter of James and Marie (Broeker) Budde. She married Junior Utterback on November 24, 1973. He survives. Margaret worked for Sears in Quincy for over 18 years. She later worked for Century 21 and also had her own business, ‘Lollipop Fashions’.

The world is a little less today than it was yesterday. We lost Margaret yesterday afternoon following heart surgery. She loved to make cookies and sweet treats baked with love with her grandkids. She loved her children with all her being and would do anything for them. She was always ready for a root beer float. She told the same stories over and over again with the same enthusiasm and viewed the world with an optimistic eye unless it involved the weather. She favored routine but loved to travel. Her sensitive compassionate nature often got the better of her leading her to tears of emotion and giving and needing extra hugs. She loved her husband deeply and even in her late years could show a tinge of jealousy if a waitress talked too friendly for too long. She was all that and so much more. She was always preparing us to be okay when she wasn’t around although we could never be nor would we have expected it would be so soon. We sometimes take for granted the constants in our lives until they are no longer there to guide us. We love you.

In addition to her husband, Margaret is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Julie Marlatt (Darius) of Peoria, IL; Jim Utterback of Camp Point and Adam Utterback (Nicole) of Manning, SC.
GRANDCHILDREN: Brianna Baker, Wyatt Baker, Kaitlyn Baker and Isabella Baker; Tyson Gilbert and Cierra Utterback.
HER BROTHER: Richard Budde (Cindy)
Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Franks Cemetery near Richfield. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities. My heart goes out to the family at this sad time. I would talk to her when she came to Julie’s house for visits. We always got on the subject of flowers and gardens. She will be deeply missed by all. Julie if you need anything please let me know.
