Lorena “Tinker” Hernandez

Lorena “Tinker” Hernandez, age 68, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in her home. She was born on October 28, 1957, in Quincy, Illinois, a daughter of Charles Franklin and Doris Jean (Bowen) Haynes. Her partner, Scott Schmidt survives.

Tinker attended Quincy High School and was a jack-of-all-trades, working at a variety of places in Quincy. She enjoyed camping, fishing, watching Westerns, and playing games. Tinker loved to drink Pepsi and savored her coffee and cigarettes. Tinker was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous and passionate about her recovery. She offered her support to those within the program who needed it and never passed judgment. Her personality was spunky, empathetic and outgoing. Tinker loved spending time with her beloved family and treated her dogs like babies. She was of the Christian faith and was baptized at The Crossing.

In addition to her partner, Tinker is survived by her children: Misty (née Burgtorf) Little, Michael (Ashley) Burgtorf, Jake Hernandez, Richard (Ashley) Schmidt, Jonathon Schmidt, Scotty (Heather Wright) Schmidt, and Lindsey Schmidt. Grandchildren: Zoé Little, Rayna (Dakota Schneider) Little, and Dorie (Dawson Bence) Little; Christian Burgtorf-Smith and Quentin Burgtorf; Landon Davis and Riley Davis; Caden Honeycutt; Grayson Schmidt; Frankie Matson and Freya Matson. Great-Grandchild: Grace Bence. Siblings: Margaret Little, Loretta (Donald Schmidt) Thomas, Donald Mason and other siblings, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her parents and several other relatives, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Quentin Burgtorf. Sisters: Sue Young, Trena Mason, and Karen Ufkes; Brothers: Donald Haynes and Danny McGill, Sr. Daughter-in-law, Lorena Hernandez; and Kickstart McCollum.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 PM. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
