Lonnie Lyn Whitaker
Lonnie Lyn Whitaker, age 57, of Quincy, died on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in his home. He was born on December 28, 1967 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Quincy.
Lonnie worked for auto dealerships in the area, detailing or moving cars.
Lonnie was named after an Elvis Presley movie. He attended The Crossing. When Lonnie was younger, he enjoyed watching the 3 stooges and Jerry Lewis with his father and brothers. Lonnie never met a stranger and from an early age was always willing to help anyone. Lonnie was a Green Bay Packer and a WWE Wrestling fan and enjoyed rock concerts. In healthier times, he enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, square dancing and the slot machines.
He loved spending time with family, especially holiday and birthday dinners.
He is survived by:
A DAUGHTER: Emily
SIBLINGS: Rosa Love (Mike), Theresa Whitfield, (Ken), Gearold Whitaker, Jr. and Richard D. Whitaker.
Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father Gearold L. Whitaker, Sr., his mother Rose Mary Whitaker Wright, a brother and a half brother in infancy.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Private graveside will take place at a later date in Payson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to help with funeral expenses. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lonnie was a very good hearted person..he would always try and help anyone he met..he will be greatly missed…to his family so very sorry for your loss…

Iam so sorry to hear of Lonnies passing. I knew Lonnie from a group home where he lived and I work.
Lonnie was always smiling, and making jokes, and helping people. He will be missed greatly.

Julie, I knew Lonnie way back in the late 90’s.
Lonnie and I worked together at Continental Cement.
We become became good friends. We kinda lost touch through the years, I heard that he gave his life to Christ that’s awesome, that gives me some peace knowing Lonnie is in a better place and he isn’t suffering any longer.
He is kinda lucky in a way, he’s with God and the rest of us

I just found out about Lonnjea passing. I think of anyone I enjoyed spending time with than Lonnie. I hate to hear he has passed as it breaks my heart. Lonnie was such a prankster he was always playing and telling me jokes. Fly high Lonnie you will be missed so much.
