Linda L. Howe

Linda L Howe, age 77, of Quincy, IL, died on Feb 27, 2025 in her home. She was born on March 30, 1947 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of Fred and Esther (Dieker) Willer. She married Greg Howe on August 26, 1967. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2023.

Linda was a Registered Nurse at the former St. Mary’s Hospital and Blessing Hospital, retiring after 50 years of service. Proud member and volunteer at St Edwards Parish, enjoyed cooking for breakfast and dinner. Linda enjoyed playing softball for the ‘Anchor’ team. Linda was a member of the 4H, playing softball and showing cattle. She was a member of the Ladies of the Shrine for the Ansar Temple. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Catholic Ladies of Charity. She was also a teacher’s aide in Mendon with the 1st Grade. Linda also enjoyed her gardening, bonfires and ‘Quincy’ the cat. She was proud of the fact that she was affectionately known as ‘Gingle’ by her great-grandchildren.

Linda is survived by: HER CHILDREN: Kim Lawrence of Quincy and Darin Howe (Shae) of Denver, NC
GRANDCHILDREN: Zachary Carstens (Sydney), Olivia Howe, Jillian Howe and Cameron Howe.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Turner and Knoll Carstens.
SIBLINGS: Geraldine Oliver of Visalia, CA, George Willer of Quincy, IL, Karen Tullis (Roscoe) of Lake Havasu, CA, Lawana Goehl (Jim) of Fowler, IL, Marlene Rose (Charles) of Quincy, IL, Carol Brennan (Mike) of Quincy, IL, Shelly Steinkamp of Quincy, IL.
SISTER-IN-LAW: Nikki McCleary (Darin).
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Greg, her parents and a brother Frederick John Willer, a sister-in-law: Suzanne Willer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 9:45 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church, Shriners Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Quincy Notre Dame or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    I worked with Linda in the ER at Blessing. She was an amazing nurse; hard working and always had a smile on her face. It was a joy to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones as they mourn the loss of someone so dear 🙏
