Lewis “Lou” Christner

Lewis “Lou” Christner, age 65, formerly of Quincy, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in Center, MO. Lou was born on October 8, 1957, in Quincy, the son of Earl and Mildred (Howerton) Christner.

He was a 1975 graduate of Quincy High School.
As a younger man, Lou worked at Titan Wheel in Quincy. He was a baseball fan and loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and drink Pepsi.

Lou was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his children: Jared (Brooke Brinkman) Christner of Hannibal, MO; Jacob Christner of Quincy, IL; Katie (Alec Mokriakow) Christner; of Hazelwood, MO. His grandchildren: Landon and Payton Christner; Paisley and Evelyn Christner; Carter Bayles and Blair Mokriakow. Lou is survived by his sisters: Sharon Hemming and Pat Knuffman, both of Quincy, IL; and Susie DeMoss of Florida. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenny and Gene Howerton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Hunt. Interment in New Providence Cemetery in Ursa, IL. A visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Messages may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com
