Kay Straus
Kay A. Straus, age 87, of Quincy died on April 10, 2026 in Sunset Home. She was born on August 29, 1938 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Wayne “Freddie” Lightle and Johanna Brew.
She graduated from Perry High School in 1956. Kay was employed in various occupations, but most frequently worked in real estate and managed apartments in Texas and Illinois.
She loved writing and wrote many poems and short stories. Above all, Kay loved life and loved people.
She is survived by her children: Terri (Tom) White, Michael Straus, and Dana (Danny) Witthouse.
Siblings: Carolyn Brinkman, Chuck Lightle, and Lee Thomas.
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
Kay was preceded in death by Steve Straus, Jeremy Straus, and Corrie Straus.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 12:00PM until the time of services in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Service arrangements for Kay A. Straus are with the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
