Kathleen L. ‘Kathy’ Grussenmeyer
Kathleen L. ‘Kathy’ Grussenmeyer, age 75, of Springfield, IL, died on September 27, 2026 in Springfield, IL. She was born on December 17, 1950 in Quincy, the daughter of Henry and Rosalee (Gredell) Peters. Kathy first married Mark Kamphaus on January 31, 1970. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1997. She later married Philip Grussenmeyer on February 17, 2001. He survives.
Philip and Kathy were members of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield.
Kathy had a special way of making every person she met feel loved, welcomed, and cared for. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Winston.
Throughout her life, Kathy worked as a beautician and later as a photographer, finding beauty in the people and moments around her. But of all the roles she held, her favorites were Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Kathy had a remarkable appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. She found happiness in tending to her garden, enjoying a cup of coffee on the patio, working on puzzles and crafts, and watching beautiful sunsets. She understood that life was precious and made the most of every minute, always choosing to focus on the moments and people that mattered most.
The holidays, especially Christmas, held a special place in Kathy’s heart. She loved gathering her family together and found great joy in cooking their favorite family recipes, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Kathy often said, “I don’t need to travel the world, I just want to be with my kids and grandkids.” Those words perfectly captured what mattered most to her. Her greatest adventure was simply loving her family, and her greatest legacy will be the love, warmth, and memories she leaves behind.
Kathy will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by:
