Joyce Kuhl, age 81, of Emden, MO, died on Sunday, July 5, 2026 in Hannibal Regional Hospital. She was born on March 26, 1945 in Lincoln, IL the daughter of Frederick and Tressa (Matthews) Barrett. She married Kenneth Kuhl on April 11, 1970. He survives.

Joyce had worked for State Farm and then ran an in-home daycare where she took care of hundreds and hundreds of kids over the years. She retired in 2011.

Joyce was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a faithful servant of Jesus. She also loved to sew and crochet. She enjoyed cooking and camping. She also liked to play cards and she raised the most beautiful flowers in her garden.

In addition to her husband, Joyce is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Dave Kuhl (Melody), John Kuhl, Tricia Broughton (John), and Alicia Upschulte (Brad).
GRANDCHILDREN: David Kuhl (Renae), Amy Kuhl, Anne Kuhl, Rachel Kuhl and Benjamin Kuhl; Lillie Broughton and Allie Broughton.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Carson and Henry Kuhl
SISTER: Jeannette Knuth
BROTHER IN LAW: Barry Harlow
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald Barrett, a sister Kay Harlow and a brother in law: Hank Knuth.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
