Jory W. Evertson
Jory W. Evertson, age 76, of Quincy, IL, passed away on September 30, 2026, in his home. He was born on May 11, 1950, in Quincy, a son to Archie and Norma Joline (Reagan) Evertson. Jory leaves behind two sons, Shane Schutte and Shad Schutte.
He began his career as an autobody technician where he was trained by Joe Schroeder, a long time family friend who he grew up with. He then went on to work for Gunther Hoyer at his shop for a few years before starting his own autobody business at 4th and Spring street, called Jory’s Body Shop. He owned and operated the shop for several years with his childhood and lifetime friend, Joe Wagy, who was there at the start of his body shop opening.
Later, he went into the car sales business where he owned and operated several car lots in Quincy, as well as one in Paloma, IL selling used cars and motorcycles. Towards the end of his career, he was a salesman at Fierge Auto Sales in Taylor, MO where he worked for several years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed the most was having band rehearsals and playing music at Blues festivals and Lake of the Ozarks with several local establishments. Most recently he played at Just One More bar and grill, where the band Blue Eyed Soul played.
Jory was a long-time musician, playing in multiple bands throughout the years: Lil’ Ronnie and the Impersonators, The 7-Ups Band, Rod and the Satellites, and most recently Blue Eyed Soul.
Jory was a man of faith and loved going to church every Sunday at Riverside Community Church. He always talked about how he loved his pastors and his church family where he enjoyed the services on Sunday so much.
He also liked to go out to eat or just have a cup of coffee and enjoyed a good conversation with his friends. He was well known for being great at carrying on a conversation.
In addition to his sons, Jory is survived by his cousin Don Lohmeyer and members of the Austin family.
Jory was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother, Grace Austin.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service at Riverside Community Church will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 11:45 am. Inurnment will take place at Greenmount Cemetery at a later date.
