John Boyd, age 84, of the Illinois Veterans Home, died on March 19, 2024 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on July 23, 1939.

He married Sharon Clampitt on May 7, 1976. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2022. John served in the United States Army. John loved to go fishing on lazy warm summer days. He was also an enthusiastic spectator of NASCAR, wrestling, and enjoyed listening to a mixture of music. John and his wife, Sharon, were lifelong animal lovers and they cared for countless pets over their many years together. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed.

His daughter, Suzan Graham (Gary), his grandchildren, Matthew Denum and Kimberly Tipton (Jared), his great-grandchildren, Monroe Tipton, Washington Tipton, Mattis Tipton and Atlas Tipton and by his niece, Marveena Shanahan (Chris).

Cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight in his memory. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
