Jerry L. McElhoe

Jerry L. McElhoe, age 83, of Quincy, died on February 26, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 22, 1940 in Cherry Box, MO the son of Estel and Naomi (Perrigo) McElhoe. Jerry married the love of his life, Judy Johnson on July 20, 1963. She survives.

Jerry worked as a tool and dye maker and an over the road truck driver for E. L. Smith and Sons Air Compressor Co. for over 40 years. Jerry was of the Catholic Faith.

Jerry loved collecting antique cars. Jerry was also an avid pool player, playing on several city pool leagues. Jerry enjoyed visiting with friends and family. In later years, he greatly looked forward to early morning coffee at Hardees.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
SON: Randy McElhoe and his wife Sandy of Quincy
SISTER: Sue Baker of Shelbina, MO
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Bill McElhoe, Bonnie Renner along with her husband Ed, and Danny McElhoe, also a brother-in-law: Jimmy Baker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. The family requests casual attire for those attending either the visitation or the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    I’m so glad to have met this man. He was a hoot! To his son Randy, my heart goes out to you! Sending our condolences.

    I’ve know Jerry for over 30 years. He was a good man that loved his family. More friends than a person could count. He will be missed by everyone.

    Our deepest sympathy. Jerry and Jim were always swapping items when we lived in Quincy. May God give you comfort in the days ahead.
