James “Jim” Wilson
James “Jim” Wilson, age 92, of Fowler, died on Monday, April 13, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 23, 1934 in Quincy, the son of Robert and Cornelia (Peters) Wilson. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Grawe, on June 16, 1956. She survives.
Jim graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1952 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1955. He proudly served two years as an Artilleryman in the 47th Armored Infantry Battalion, achieving the rank of Specialist 3rd Class, and was stationed at Ft Benning Georgia. After an honorable discharge, Jim and Pat returned to Quincy where Jim began work at George Keller & Sons.
In 1962 Jim & Pat purchased a 160 acre farm south of Fowler and moved there to begin their farming operation and raise their family. Jim truly loved to farm, whether it was planting and harvesting crops, baling hay or especially raising Angus cattle. Later, as the kids became involved in 4H, he would help them show cattle at the Adams County Fair. Jim was also employed full time at the Quincy Post Office for 25 years. During that time he primarily worked in vehicle maintenance, retiring in 1992 as the Supervisor of Vehicle Maintenance. Along with his management duties, he was also driving instructor, examiner and accident investigator. He was recognized in 1992 and received Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor of the Year for the Central Region. He also received a special achievement award for his outstanding performance.
Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active in the parish. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, President of the Parish Counsel, and Trustee of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball. Jim was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, particularly his grandchildren whom he cherished.
In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by his brother Richard Wilson and the following;
