James “Jim” Welte age 63, of Ewing, MO died on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in his home.

Jim was born in Quincy, IL on December 2, 1961, and was the son of Jerry and Kathy (Blevin) Welte. He married Mary S. Reckers in Alton, IL on August 1, 1987, in Alton, IL and she survives.

Until April of this year, Jim was employed at Sem Minerals in Quincy as a floor cleaner.

One of his favorite things was attending rock concerts. Jim truly loved and cared for his family.

In addition to his wife Mary, survivors include his three children: Rita Stephens of Ewing, MO: Roger (Karen) Stephens of Loraine, IL; Joe (Dawn) Stephens, also of Ewing. Grandchildren: B.J. Schmidt of Alton, IL Jake Stephens of O’Fallon, MO; Noah and Fred Gardner of Eaton, OH; and Amber (Delano Bartlett, Sr.) Stephens of Godfrey, IL.

Two great grandchildren, Delano Bartlett, Jr. and Rose Bartlett.

Siblings: Joe (Theresa) Welte of Quincy; Jerry (Cheri) Welte of Quincy; Jay (Rhonda) Welte of LaGrange, MO; John (Linda) Welte of Alton, IL; Julie (Chuck) Wright of Pocahontas, IL; Jennifer (Steve) Scott of Summerville, SC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rights will be accorded. A memorial benefit will be announced. Arrangements for cremation are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
