James D. Bass
James D. Bass, 79, of Quincy gained his wings January 30, 2026 in his home.
Jim was born on September 20, 1946 in Chicago, IL, the oldest of five children born to James and Josephine Bass.
After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was honorably discharged.
Jim met the love of his life on Halloween night in 1965, October 1, 1966, he married Francine Grzelinski. They were inseparable from that day on.
Jim held many jobs in his lifetime. His true calling was an over the road truck driver. Being able to see most the country, sometimes with Fran, was the perfect fit for him.
His love of music lead him to learn the guitar, and some piano. He was a member of several bands in northern IL.
He is survived by his loving wife, Francine. One sister, Kathy Wilhelm of Spring Hill, FL. Four children: Jeanette (Michael) Kent, of LaBelle, MO; James (Robin) Bass, of Winterhaven, FL; Cynthia Skibinskie, of Quincy; and Robert (Kris) Bass, of Franklin Grove, IL. Ten grandchildren: Alisha Bass, Tiffany (Kris) Mocerino, Brandon (Kasi) Bass, Brittany (Dakota) Fielding, Christian (Mackenzie) Hicks, James Bass, Dylan (Caroline) Jeanblanc, Zackary Bass, Madison Kent, and Katelyn Bass. 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Bass, 2 sisters, Carol Roberson and Nancy Westover.
Per his wishes, there will be no services. Cremation rights have been accorded.
