Harry Sumpter, Jr.

Harry Sumpter, Jr. age 71, of Quincy, died on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in his home. He was born on December 21, 1953 in Moberly, MO the son of Harry L. & Doris (Minor) Sumpter. He married Kathleen Vogelpohl. She survives.

Harry worked as a car detailer for Tom’s Quality Car Care for many years.

Harry was of the Catholic Faith.

Harry enjoyed going to the Raceways and did so for 48 years. He enjoyed scrapping metal. He was an outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed mowing his grass.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
A SON: Cory Sumpter of Quincy
A SISTER: Shirley Kroner (John)

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Raymond Sumpter.

Private Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery 1730 North 18th Street Quincy, IL

The family will gather at the funeral home at 12 noon Wednesday to join the procession to the cemetery.

    Kathy and Cory I’m so sorry for your loss. Harry and your family was a daily part of my son’s life (Koda) growing up at Grandma’s house.
    Harry usually had something funny to say even when he played taxi all the way out to my house so the boys could spend the night together. Sending comfort your way,
