Harold Lentz

Harold Douglas Lentz, age 89, died at the Illinois Veterans Home on Friday, June 27, 2025, where he had been a resident after suffering a stroke in 2018.
Harold was born April 30,1936 in Moberly, MO to James and Sudie (Sallaway) Lentz.
He graduated from Warsaw High School, Warsaw, Illinois in 1954 and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1954 – 1958. After his military discharge he moved to California, graduated from Woodbury University with his M B A Degree. He began his banking career in 1959, and worked at numerous banks in California as well as being a teacher at Fullerton State College.
In 1995 he moved to Hannibal, Missouri and continued his banking career at area banks.
He married Rita Ehrhardt on January 27, 1995 in Hannibal, MO. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Hannibal, MO.
His hobbies included traveling, walking and keeping his yard perfectly mowed.
Harold is survived by his wife Rita, step children and spouses Kim Windoffer Gibbons (Danny); Amy Lynn Windoffer Adams (James); and Bruce Windoffer (Amy Nicole); sisters Judy Mittelberg (Danny) and Donna Smith and brother-in-law Alvin ‘Spike’ Ehrhardt (Theresa). Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, brothers James Lentz and Terry Lentz along with his wife Charlene, and sister-in-law Rosie Boone along with her husband Roger.
Extra thank you to all the staff of Illinois Veterans Home especially the workers at Schapers B, forever grateful for love and care shown to Harold and Rita.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Illinois Veterans Home Quincy, Illinois, by Father Chuck Edwards with military burial in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home. Donations may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home All Wars Museum through the care of the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, 823 Broadway, Quincy, Illinois 62301. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Our sympathy to Harold’s family. Harold’s mother’s birthday is this week and I’m sure Harold and Terry were greeted in heaven by their loving parents.
I have only known Rita and Harold for the 11 months my husband has been at the veterans home but my life is richer as a result of it. I will miss them both.

I will always remember Harold and you! He was a one of a kind for sure. How his face lit up when you walked into the room…you could feel the love. He had a that little smirky smile…his way of letting us know he knew exactly what was up. Thanks for all the encouraging words over the years. I will think of you both often.
