Gregory Lee Meyer, age 79, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026.
Greg was born June 20, 1946, in Quincy, Illinois, to Clarence and Helen Crossan Meyer. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Greg will be lovingly remembered for the joy he found in spending time with his grandsons, Desmond and Jackson Meyer, and with Jacob and Joshua Fry before them. He also cherished his loyal companions, his dogs Sparky and Tokow.

Greg is survived by his children: Elizabeth Meyer and her husband Phillip Meyer of Quincy; Ginger Fry of Quincy; Rita Black of Quincy; and Michelle Hill; his sister, Sharon Kay of Quincy; and his brothers Terry Meyer of Quincy, Robert Meyer and wife Sandy of Rockford, Illinois, Charlie Meyer and wife Kathy of Quincy. He is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen Meyer, his sisters Vicky Stupavsky and Joyce Locke, and his brother Joseph Meyer.

A Graveside service will be held Thursday, September 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home. Military rites to be conducted at the cemetery by the United States Army Honor Detail and the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail. All who knew and loved Greg are invited to attend and honor his memory. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
