Gerald “Gary” Vogel
Gerald “Gary” Vogel, age 81, of Quincy, died on Friday, September 26, 2025 in his home. He was born on April 16, 1944 in Quincy. He was a graduate of East Moline United Township High School. Gary married Patricia Slater on June 29, 1963. She survives. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Gary was a Union Electrician for many years in the Quincy area. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing and in younger years, bowling, softball and volleyball.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Lori Vogel (Sean Secrease), Lisa Vogel Adams (Rodney Brandenburg); Mark Anthony Vogel.
GRANDCHILDREN: Amanda West (Jeff), Michael Vogel, Megan Hurst (Bert); Douglas Inman and Mac McPike; Payton Adams, Paige Adams and Jack Adams; Jadyn Vogel and Kelan Vogel.
BROTHER: Donald Vogel
SISTER-IN-LAW: Shirley Vogel
Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends who they consider as family, Brett and Kim Taylor also survive.
Gary was preceded in death by his son: Michael Richard Vogel, his mother Lucille Helen (Wellman) Vogel, his father Herbert Antone Vogel, a brother Ronald Vogel and a sister-in-law Mazie Vogel.
The family would like to thank Deacon Dennis Holbrook, Denny & Connie Hoyt, Bill & Sue Metzinger and Eric & Tracy Orne for the support during this time.
The family would also like to especially thank the Blessing Hospice Team and Dr. Bari and his staff at Blessing Cancer Center Hannibal for the wonderful care given to Gary.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the QCES Foundation to Benefit St. Francis Catholic School, Quincy Notre Dame Softball Team or Quincy Notre Dame Girls Basketball Team. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
