Gary David Hall
Gary David Hall, age 63, of Quincy, IL, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 5, 1963, in Quincy, a son to Robert and Elaine (Peters) Hall. Gary married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jill Harcharick, in St. Peter Catholic Church in Quincy on May 12, 1984. She survives.
Gary completed his early education at St. Mary’s School before graduating from Quincy Notre Dame High School in 1981. He then began a seventeen – year career at Penn-Daniels. Seeking a new path, he attended Vatterott College for HVAC training, which led to a sixteen-year tenure at Peter’s Heating and Air Conditioning before retiring in 2018.
Gary was a devoted husband to Jill, his loving wife of 42 years. Early in their marriage, Gary and Jill shared canoe trips with friends, bowling leagues with family, and memorable nights camping. He was a dedicated father to his two daughters, Jenna and Samantha. He passed on his passion for camping by taking his family on many adventurous camping trips all over the United States. Gary loved watching his girls play in all different sports and school activities. Later in life, one of Gary greatest joys was being Papa to his three grandchildren: Ryder, Talon, and Kinlee. He cherished every moment babysitting, cheering them on at their hockey games, and sharing his passion for football.
Gary’s passion for sports was a cornerstone of his life, especially his devotion to the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Blues, and the Kansas City Royals. He rarely missed a chance to cheer them on, but even more than the victories, he cherished the memories created while taking his family to the games. Always sharing his enthusiasm with the ones, he loved most. Gary was most known for his memorable one-liner and his uncanny ability to disappear and reappear at just the right moment. Beyond his one liners, Gary was known for his quick wit and a great sense of humor that always kept everyone laughing.
During his final year, he faced his battles with terminal lung cancer with remarkable courage and strength. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Blessing Cancer Center, Palliative Care, and Hospice teams at Blessing Hospital for their compassionate care, love, and support during his journey.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his daughters: Jenna (Brian) Patterson and Samantha Hall; Grandchildren: Ryder, Talon, and Kinlee Patterson; Siblings: Jeanine (Carl) Schroder and Bruce (Jerri) Hall; Brothers and Sisters in Law: Linda Harcharick; Jerry (Connie) Harcharick; Lisa (Brad) Soebbing; and Nancy (Nathan) Frankenhoff. And many other loving family and friends.
