Douglass C. Barnes Jr.

Douglass C. Barnes Jr., age 82, of Quincy died on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in his home. Douglass was born on January 26, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Douglass C. Barnes, Sr. and Mary Miller. Douglass married Gloria Liucci and they shared more than 40 years together.

Douglass attended Jersy City State College, where he ran track and played basketball. He enlisted in the US Marines Corp. in 1962 until 1968, while serving in the Vietnam War. Douglass was employed as a beverage distributor and had a strong work ethic, which he passed down to his sons.

Douglass is survived by his children and daughter in law, Andrew Barnes of New York and David and Candy Barnes of Illinois; his grandchildren, Abby, Zack, and Ryan Barnes; his brother, Robert Barnes of New Jersey.

Douglass was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and grandparents.

    What a gentleman. We knew Doug from Big Lots and Farm & Home. Enjoyed speaking with him each time we saw him. Was a shock to see that he’d passed on. We pray that God’s support will comfort his family.
    We will definitely miss seeing him.

    I enjoyed working with Doug but more importantly enjoyed his friendship. Everyone loves Doug and he will be missed greatly.
