Dorothy Brassfield

Dorothy Brassfield, age 92 of Quincy, died on July 8, 2026 at Blessing Hospital. She was born on January 6, 1934 to Floyd and Flossie (Rainey) Lindsey.
On October 3, 1953 she married the love of her life, Albert Brassfield. They celebrated 45 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1998.

Through Dorothy’s hard work ethics, she worked at many local factories including Davis and Cleaver, Motorola, Micro energy and Sheller-Globe, before landing her job at QJHS as a cafeteria cook until her retirement in November 2003.

Dorothy enjoyed visiting the Coach House restaurant every morning for the past five years. She considered her friends and the employees her family and looked forward to seeing them every day. Dorothy also enjoyed seeing all her friends at Sprout’s Inn restaurant (and her favorite waitress Tracy) every Sunday and Tuesday for supper. Anyone who knew Dorothy would tell you she would do anything to help anyone at any time.

On October 3, 2003, Dorothy was very blessed at finding the second love of her life, John Noble. They have spent the last 23 years together.
Dorothy enjoyed country music shows, flea markets, garage sales and putting puzzles together. Her family meant everything to her and she didn’t know a stranger.

Survivors include her significant other, John Noble
Her sons: Richard Brassfield and Glen (Karrie) Brassfield.
Grandsons: Steve (Jen) Brassfield, Mark (Gwen) Brassfield, Tommy (Nicole) Brassfield, Brandon (Kim) Brassfield and Dustin (Logan) Brassfield.
Granddaughters: Melissa Longcour and Holli Fuhrman.
Great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as Johns sons, daughters, and their families also survive.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, son Floyd “Doug” Brassfield, son and daughter-in-law Terry and Sandra (Flachs) Brassfield. A brother and sister-in-law Darrell (Shorty) and Barb Lindsey.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Fishing for Freedom, or the Quincy Senior Center Elevator Fund. Service arrangements are with the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
