Doris Mae Timpe

Doris Mae Timpe, age 82, formerly of Quincy, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 30, 1942, in Quincy, a daughter of Robert A. and Juletta W. (Peters) Mast. Doris married Thomas E. Timpe on July 28, 1973. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2011.

Doris was a registered nurse and worked at numerous facilities. She went on to become a nursing instructor, teaching future caregivers how to provide excellent care. After having children, Doris happily stayed at home to raise them. Later, she stepped back into the workforce as part-owner of Quincy Specialties Company. Doris was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

In her free time, Doris enjoyed traveling, reading and attending her grandchildren’s various activities. In recent years, as her mobility began to slow her down, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, surrounded by the love of her family.

She is survived by her children: Diane (Frank) Gallucci of Bloomington, IL; Kim (Jason) Lucas of Lincoln, IL; and Greg (Hilary) Timpe of Countryside, IL. Siblings: Carol (George) Sheller and Marie Anderson. Grandchildren: Nathan Gallucci, Adam Gallucci, Michael Lucas, Austin Lucas, Jack Timpe, and Leah Timpe. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive.

In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her parents; Siblings: Don Mast; Janice Prior; and Roberta Ehrhardt. Brothers-in-Law: Tom McCaughey; Doug Anderson; and Jim Ehrhardt and Sister-in-Law: Marian Mast.

A funeral service for Doris will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 9:30 AM in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 4-7 PM at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
