David P. Neiswender, Jr.

David P. Neiswender, Jr., age 82, of Quincy, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 3, 2026 in his home in Riviera Beach, FL.

He was born on July 7, 1944 in Moberly, MO, the son of David P. Neiswender, Sr. and Rita (Connelly) Neiswender.

David attended Christian Brothers High School and continued his education at Quincy College. He then enlisted and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

A lifelong Catholic, David was a member of St. Peter Church in Quincy and St. Paul of the Cross in Singer Island, Florida.

David spent his career helping to grow local businesses, first as co-owner of the Patio Restaurant and Elkton Hotel and later as Vice President of Farm and Home Supply, where he worked until his retirement in 2005. But his greatest pride was never his career – it was his community.

David had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease. He was personable, thoughtful, generous, quick to laugh, and always ready with a good story or quick remark. He made friends easily and was the kind of person people remembered long after they had met him.

He spent countless hours in the duck blind with family and friends at his duck farm, where his love of hunting – and his talent for duck calling – made for some of his favorite days. He traveled the world chasing sport fish, lake fish, and any fish he could get to bite. David was also an avid golfer, still holding the title as the oldest man to win the Spring Lake Club Championship. Above all, David treasured his role as a brother, father, and grandfather.

David is survived by his children, J.D. Neiswender (Angie), Kaitlyn Neiswender, and Sarah Neiswender; his granddaughter, Bennett Neiswender; his siblings, Steve Neiswender (Dawn), Mark Neiswender (Kim), and Randy Neiswender (Vicky); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David P. Neiswender, Sr. and Rita (Connelly) Neiswender and his great-nephew Brek Neiswender.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed immediately by funeral services and a procession to Calvary Cemetery for interment. A luncheon and celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM at Spring Lake Country Club following the services at Calvary Cemetery. All are welcome to attend.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Sheridan Swim Team. Service arrangements are with the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.

Dave was one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. I worked with him at Quincy Farm and Home Supply. My father had just passed away, and he talked to me and helped get me through the struggle .I’ll never forget his kind words and compassion. May he rest in peace. He was a great man !

I was so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing! We were classmates at Christian Bros. HS ! Dave was always a good friend to me and all he came in contact with!He was always quick-witted and funny! Even though I have not seen Dave in over 50 years, I never forgot him, his humor and his laugh! Please accept my deepest sympathy ! God just got another angel! Thank you for your service, Dave!!

Mark and Kim, we are so sorry for your loss. David gave me my first job as a dishwasher at age 15. He was a good boss. I remember watching him cut up meat for orders. Every time I saw him after leaving The Patio, David would always say hello and chat for a little while. I had not seen David in years. I know I have fond memories of working with him and the staff at The Patio.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I worked for Dave back in the late 60s, early 70s at the Patio. He was such a nice guy and a great boss. I was a dishwasher at the Patio saving money to pay my tuition at Notre Dame High School. He treated us all as valued member of a very successful restaurant! He will be missed 🙏🏻💗
