David L. Lamphere, age 78, of Quincy, died on July 5, 2026, at Golden Good Shepherd Home. He was born on November 14, 1947, in Sheldon, IA, the son of Fred and Arlene (Reuter) Lamphere.

David was a history teacher and taught Junior High School in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

David was a lifelong “Student of History” and he loved reading all things history related.

Survivors include his siblings: Robert Lamphere of Elizabethtown, KY and Geraldine (Kenneth) Grawe of Quincy.

Nieces and nephews: Laura (Michael) Madsen Quincy, Andrew (Julie) Grawe of Windsor, CO, and Katherine (Robert) Marold of Lee’s Summitt, MO. Great-nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Lamphere.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and inurnment will be held at Calvary Mausoleum in Sioux City, IA. Service arrangements are with the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
