On September 3, 1955, David married the love of his life, Donna Lee Stratman, at St. Francis Solanus Church. Their union was marked by deep affection, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to their family. David and Donna were blessed with two children, who were the pride of David’s life: Daniel (Jennifer) Ehrhart and LeAnn Ehrhart and her husband, Philip Kirkwood, of Seattle. He was a dedicated father, instilling in his children the same values that his parents had taught him.

Professionally, David was associated with T.F. Ehrhart Co. since the early 1950s through his retirement some 50 years later. Beyond his work, he was a member in the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the Mississippi Valley Historic Auto Club. David was an avid car collector, a passion that brought him immense joy and connected him with fellow enthusiasts.

Dave, you were like a grandpa to me and were always so kind to me and my family. I’ll always cherish the times I went to church with and went to Coach House for brunch. I’ll always hold your memory close to my heart.
David was my godfather and my second cousin
He came down to my granny’s house his aunty Sally’s for thanksgiving. Even when she passed away he always came with marshmallow salad in hand plus a fruit cake.
Rip see u all Sunday.
Dave was a good friend to my father; Jerry Wells. He was a good man.
My husband knew Dave from his business. Then it wasn’t long after we married, met Donna who was equally nice. A friendship since 1963. Lots of memories made. Enjoyed watching the children grow up. Our sympathy to the family.
My late husband, John, & I met Dave & Donna when we Joined the MVHAC (car club) in mid 1990’s. Dave was treasurer of the club for many years and when the the Antique Auto Museum didn’t have enough cars to display he would bring a few of his to fill the museum. He knew his cars, was gracious with offering to loan for display and loved talking about cars. Still remember his interview with Illinois Stories at the Museum. RIP Dave.
Dan and Lee Ann, although the years and miles have separated us, I have great memories of our time together as children.May you find peace in the memories of your dad.
