Chayla L. Smith

Chayla L. Smith, age 31, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at her home.

She was born February 3, 1992 in Quincy the daughter of James and Carla Warning Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Chakya Washington and Serenity Nation; two sisters, Charla Smith and Mieka Raymond; three nephews, Conner Smith, Caleb Schultz and Cameron Schultz; uncle, Kent Warning; aunts, Connie (Gene) Oenning, Karen Wiseman, other aunts and uncles and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, James; maternal grandparents, Bernice and Glenn Warning; paternal grandparents, Betty Smith and Leonard Smith; aunt, Paula Warning and several uncles.

The family of Chayla would like to thank the wonderful people at The Well House for all their help.

A celebration of life to honor Chayla will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Faith Assembly Church in Quincy. Memorials are suggested to Chakya and Serenity’s education fund c/o Carla Smith. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.dukerandhaugh.com.

    Carla, I’m so so sorry to hear Chayla passed. Your heart must be breaking. I remember Chayla when I was teaching in Mendon. She was the sweetest little girl with the biggest smile that showed her dimples. Anytime I saw her out and about she’d come talk and give me a hug. Please know I’m thinking of you.

    My best friend and sister even tho I’ll be so lost without you I know you’re in better hands. My heart hurts more and more everyday without you here. I’ll always remember and cherish every memory we made from the 17 years of friendship we had. I will always love you my sister now it’s time for you to rest I’ll see you on the other side!!
