Anita M. (Bode) Quinn Rakers

Anita M. (Bode) Quinn Rakers, 90, of the Good Samaritan Home died Thursday, May 28th at Blessing Hospital. She was born January 7, 1936 in Villa Park, IL, the daughter of Charles John and Esther Genevieve (Burgert) Bode. She married Joseph D. Quinn on August 31, 1957 in St Alexander Church in Villa Park. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2003. She married Paul Rakers on February 26, 2011 in St Peter Catholic Church in Quincy, IL. He survives.

Anita devoted her life to caring for her home and family as a dedicated homemaker. As a young woman, she worked as a secretary at the Palmer House in Chicago and was a car hop while in high school. When her children were all in school, she worked for John Ernst Insurance and the Green Turtle Gift Shop.

She was a member of the St Peter Catholic Church. She was very involved with all things service, and volunteered for years with Washington School Clothes Closet, Ladies of Charity, and delivered communion to the homebound.

She was very active in her numerous bridge clubs, Friday Night Elks Club group, golfing, crafting, line dancing, and loved to talk about ice and roller skating as a young woman in Chicago. “If the boys didn’t skate, we didn’t date.”

Anita is survived by her husband and her children: Karen (Mark) Cawthon, Joseph C. Quinn, Julie (Jeff) Rupert all of Quincy and Kristine Koch of Bloomington, IL.
Her beloved grandchildren: Eric (Mandi) Cawthon of NYC, Nicholas Cawthon, Jaclyn (Cody) Arens, Jackson and Quinn Rupert all of Quincy, and Morgan, Kyle, & Lauren Koch of Bloomington IL.
Her great-grandchildren were her greatest blessing: Wesley, Cooper, Brooks and Theo Arens of Quincy.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Quinn, her parents, her brothers Charles and Richard Bode, her son-in-law Kevin Koch and her infant grandchildren Abigail, Cassidy and Jacob Rupert.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Good Samaritan Home and the staff of 6 North at Blessing Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided to Anita.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St Peter Catholic Church. A Prayer service will begin before hand at 9:30am at the funeral home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 4-7pm at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
