Adalberta E. ‘Alberta’ Flachs

Adalberta E. ‘Alberta’ Flachs, age 87, of the Sunset Home, died on Sunday, March 24, 2024 in the Home. She was born on June 30, 1936 in Quincy, the daughter of Otto George and Esther Mae (Davis) Stierlin. She married Lowell Flachs on July 28, 1954. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2014.

Alberta, along with her husband, raised and showed longhaired dachshunds.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Alberta is survived by:
CHILDREN: Lowell Andrew Flachs and his wife Jane of Quincy; Susan Marie Vermillion and her husband Wilbur Savidge of North Ridgeland Hills, TX and Janet Flachs MacMillan and her husband Keith of Royce City, TX.
GRANDCHILDREN: John Hamann and his wife Kia, Heather Daley and her husband Jeff, Gene Vermillion, Trey Spitzer, and Joshua Flachs.
Numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Alberta was also preceded in death by siblings: Betty Derby, Otto George Stierlin, Jr., Perry Stierlin, Milton Stierlin, Lawrence Stierlin, and Diane McSorley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 9:30 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sunset Home Senior Living Activities Fund or to the DCA (Dachshunds Club of America) Health and Welfare Trust Fund.
