John Jay Sloup

John Jay Sloup, age 81, of Quincy, died on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1942 in Omaha, NE the son of Joseph and Ann (Svik) Sloup. He married Annette Rodio. She survives.

John was a self-employed dealer in printing and office supplies.

John was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. He greatly enjoyed watching Nebraska ‘Cornhusker’ Football and researching his family genealogy. John loved time spent with family, especially the grandkids.

In addition to his wife, John is also survived by:
ONE SON: Phillip J. Sloup and his wife Debbi of Quincy.
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Cody Sloup, Brady Sloup and his wife Hayley, and Allyson Sloup (Gage Peters)
ONE GREAT GRANDCHILD: Liam Peters
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.

John was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 10:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will take place at a later date in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Omaha, NE. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the Mass. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Mayor John, you will be missed by many. You always greeted me with a smile and a story, and I’m not sure which was bigger, the smile or the story. I will never forget our visits and will cherish the memories. Rest In Heavenly Peace my friend

    John will be missed alot by our residents at Bradford Villa. He always came to visit a friend in Villa 3 and he was so happy to include us all in his visits. May he rest in peace. God bless all of you.
