David P. Neiswender, Jr.
David P. Neiswender, Jr., age 82, of Quincy, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 3, 2026 in his home in Riviera Beach, FL.
He was born on July 7, 1944 in Moberly, MO, the son of David P. Neiswender, Sr. and Rita (Connelly) Neiswender.
David attended Christian Brothers High School and continued his education at Quincy College. He then enlisted and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
A lifelong Catholic, David was a member of St. Peter Church in Quincy and St. Paul of the Cross in Singer Island, Florida.
David spent his career helping to grow local businesses, first as co-owner of the Patio Restaurant and Elkton Hotel and later as Vice President of Farm and Home Supply, where he worked until his retirement in 2005. But his greatest pride was never his career – it was his community.
David had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease. He was personable, thoughtful, generous, quick to laugh, and always ready with a good story or quick remark. He made friends easily and was the kind of person people remembered long after they had met him.
He spent countless hours in the duck blind with family and friends at his duck farm, where his love of hunting – and his talent for duck calling – made for some of his favorite days. He traveled the world chasing sport fish, lake fish, and any fish he could get to bite. David was also an avid golfer, still holding the title as the oldest man to win the Spring Lake Club Championship. Above all, David treasured his role as a brother, father, and grandfather.
David is survived by his children, J.D. Neiswender (Angie), Kaitlyn Neiswender, and Sarah Neiswender; his granddaughter, Bennett Neiswender; his siblings, Steve Neiswender (Dawn), Mark Neiswender (Kim), and Randy Neiswender (Vicky); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David P. Neiswender, Sr. and Rita (Connelly) Neiswender and his great-nephew Brek Neiswender.
