Wilma Powell OBITUARY
Wilma May Powell, age 79, of Sunset Home, went to be with our heavenly Father and her husband, at 4:44 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Wilma came to us on God’s earth September 26, 1933 in Quincy, the daughter of Gene and Vivian (Tressley) Masters. On March 5, 1956 she was united in marriage with Allen “Chubs” Powell, who preceded her in death.
Wilma had worked at Motorola until they closed, she later worked at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Housekeeping and Food Service until her retirement. Wilma’s greatest joy was spending time with all of her family. She was a member of Faith Christian Church.
Survivors include her children: Susan Diton and her husband Kevin of Quincy; Steve Ferguson of Peoria; Carmeletta Powell Riley of Quincy; Debbie Buss of Colorado; Petey Kindle and his wife Dixie of Colona.
A sister, Geraldine Schoonover of Quincy; grandchildren, Hope Rardon of Liberty; DeAnna Robinson and David Rardon both of Quincy; Joey Kindle of Colona; Sebrina Reeves of Hannibal, MO and Serina Graff of Florida; Stevie and Michael Ferguson; Jamie and Jason Riley all of Quincy; Ben Powell Scholz; Aaron Buss and Christy Wade all of Quincy; Jennifer Florez of St. Louis and Amanda Cox of Quincy;
Numerous great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren with one-on-the-way, along with nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Terry Eugene Powell, a daughter, Brenda Ferguson and two sisters Shirley Casey and Elsie Melton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Henry Pratt. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
