Wilma I. Brink

Wilma I. Brink age 89, of Quincy died on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 10:34 p.m. in Good Samaritan Home. Wilma was born January 25, 1928 in Quincy, IL a daughter of Andrew & Mary (Jansen) Tappe. She married Albert E. Brink, Sr. on May 28, 1949 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2004.

Wilma was a homemaker, she also worked at Moorman Manufacturing Co. for 1946-1950 in the Accounting Department as a Key Punch Operator. She was a 1946 graduate of Maplewood High School in Camp Point, IL. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Ladies Sodality and taught CCD for many years.

Wilma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was telling stories to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and making crafts with them. She was the rock of her very large family. Wilma was welcoming to anyone who came to her home and needed a meal or a place to stay.

Survivors include her children, Debbie Brink; Terry Anderson and her husband Tim; Patty Terstriep and her husband Luke; Thom Brink; Al Brink, Jr. and his wife Cindy; Arlene Anderson and her husband Terry, all of Quincy. Three sons-in-law, Phil Bellis of Quincy; Mark Frankenbach of Palmyra, MO and Ron Karnopp of Quincy. Daughters-in-law Sonia Brink of Quincy and Jackie Bowen of Mount Sterling, IL; two special nieces, Joyce Vahle and her husband Kevin of Fowler, IL and Sandy Venvertloh and her husband Larry of Quincy; 34 Grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, Albert Brink, Sr. four children, Don Brink; Roxie Frankenbach, Anita Bellis and Alberta Karnopp; her brothers, Herman, Andrew, Vincent, Frederick and Wilfred Tappe; sisters, Elenora Griesbaum, Mary Zengel, Cornelia Wiemelt and Alvera Paul. Also, a special nephew Rick Zengel preceded her in death.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Jeff Stone. INTERMENT will be in Calvary Cemetery. VISITATION will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. IN LEIU OF FLOWERS MEMORIALS are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Good Samaritan Home.

    My sympathy to the family. I remember Wilma, we lived down the road from the family. Prayers for all during this difficult time.
