Wilma Hummel

Wilma Hummel, age 82, of the St. Vincent Home, formerly of 3509 Ellington Road, died on Thursday, August 7, 2008 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on May 25, 1926 in Quincy, the daughter of Rudolph & Agnes (Schaich) Lubbe. Wilma had just recently celebrated her 61st wedding anniversary having married Gerald Hummel on April 24, 1947 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. He survives. Wilma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and greatly enjoyed providing for her family. She was a 1944 graduate of Payson Seymour High School.

Wilma was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Francis. Also at St. Francis she helped in the cleaning of the church and volunteered as a librarian at the school. She was also a former Girl Scout leader.

In addition to her husband, Wilma is survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Ann Soltys and her husband Robert of Quincy and Wayne Hummel and his companion Barbara Bunch also of Quincy.
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Greg Soltys, Emily Soltys and Nick Hummel.

Wilma was preceded in death by: her parents, a brother Orville Lubbe and a sister: Lucille Frericks and a son and daughter both in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Parish Prayer service at 5:30. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent Home or St. Francis Building Fund.

    Ann this is Jill from st.vincent your mother was such a sweet lady and I always enjoyed working with her I am very sorry for your loss I just wanted you to know that your mother was such a sweet heart and always put a smile on your face no matter how stressed out you were she always made everybody laugh and always had a hug for you when she felt you were stressed and she was always right it did make a difference in your day and i will never forget your mother thanks for sharing her with the girls of st vincent. I am so happy that i had the opportunity to meet such a dear lady. God Bless
