Wilma “Billie” Schullian

Wilma “Billie” Schullian, age 100, of Quincy, a resident of Sunset Home, died on Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Home. She went peacefully into the arm of Our Heavenly Father surrounded by her family. Wilma was born on May 22, 1918 in Quincy, a daughter of Paul and Mary (Kroeger) Gredell. She was a graduate of St. Francis Grade School and a graduate of Notre Dame High School. Wilma was the last surviving member of her class. She married Cecil Frank Schullian on November 10, 1941 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2005.

Wilma and her husband moved to the farm where she helped on the farm and together they raised their family. It was always a memorable occasion for the city relatives when they came to ‘the farm’. There was fishing, boating, swimming, camping, campfires and many delicious meals that Wilma prepared. Wilma was an active member of the Liberty PTA and a room mother for each of her children. She was also a member of the Home Extension Association and the St. Joseph’s Ladies Society. Later Wilma took a job at the Quincy Airport Restaurant and Boags restaurant. When Bergners opened in 1978, she worked there preparing the food for the Salad Bar until her retirement at at the age of 72. After her retirement, she took wonderful care of her ailing husband. After living on the farm for 57 years, she moved into Quincy next to one of her daughters. She greatly enjoyed going to card parties with her sister.

Wilma’s family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care provided by the staff at Sunset Home.

She is survived by:
HER CHILDREN: Judy Ann Bergman and her husband Greg; Mary Kay Gramke; Anne Marie Shaffer, and Dan Schullian and his wife Beth all of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Bill (Casey) Bergman, Sara Homan; Rob (Barb) Gramke; Stephen (Laura) Gramke; Laura Gramke; Dusty (Kevin) Varcak; Curtis (Shannon) Shaffer; Corey (Becky) Shaffer; Tyler (Ashley) Shaffer; Jennifer (Terry) Morrow; Julie Schullian; Joanna (George) Hilburn; Bryan (Autumn) Schullian.
21 Great-Grandchildren: Rebecca and Olivia Jones; Kyle and Connor Gramke; Sophie, Kate, Claire, and Charles Gramke; Kate and Harper Varcak; Beau, Chloe, and Danika Shaffer; Grady and Kolby Shaffer; Willow and Riggs Shaffer; Julianna Morrow; Gretchen Holmes; Paxton and Tinley Schullian.
SISTER: Rosa Lee ‘Rollie’ Peters
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Wilma was also preceded in death by a son Kenny Schullian, a grandson Tom Gramke, A sister Marie Mason, and two sons-in-law: Larry Gramke and Bob Shaffer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.

    I met Wilma at Sunset. She was a very sweet lady. May she Rest In Peace .

    I enjoyed getting to know her when I celebrated mass at Sunset each week. Prayers for the family.

    Such fond memories of your mother and dad at North Adams Home. My mom was a resident there and we all spent countless hours on the north patio visiting. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
