William L. Waterman

William L. Waterman, age 91, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 3116 Rutledge Drive, died on Monday, June 11, 2012 in the Home. He was born on December 18, 1920 in Quincy, the son of Lewis and Frances (Hessing) Waterman. He first married Betty Wendling on January 8, 1944. She preceded him in death on January 26, 1974. He later married Beatrice Ohnemus King on June 11, 1982. She survives. Mr. Waterman worked at Electric Wheel/Firestone for 41 years. He served in the United States Army during WWII and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter. He was a member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Knights of Columbus, the North Side Boat Club, and the Eagles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
SIX CHILDREN: Diane Dabney and her husband Jon; Susan Schreacke, Pam Blacketer and her husband Steve; Jane Stout and her husband Dick; Donna Zellerman and her husband Jim; and Debbie Hickey and her husband Terry all of Quincy;
ONE DAUGHTER IN LAW: Beth King of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN: Cynthia Barner and her husband Kenneth; Brian Schreacke and his wife Linda; Shawn Schreacke and his wife Kelly; Melissa Anderson and her husband Rex; Amy Pultzer and her husband Rusty; Lindsey Irving; Morgan Irving; Erin Fischer and her husband Evan; Brian Jansen; Kevin Hickey; Jimmy King and his wife Kate; and Michael King.
TWENTY- GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.

In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Dennis King, a grandchild, Adam King and a son-in-law: Dale Schreacke.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:00 in the Church of St. Peter by Msgr. Leo Enlow. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home Alzheimer’s Unit or to the Blessing Cancer Center.
