William Earl Hughes

Funeral Services for Mr. William Hughes planned for Wednesday are postponed due to weather conditions. and A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

William Earl Hughes, age 70, of 1104 Madison, died on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 6:45 PM in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 9, 1941 in Quincy, the son of Louis & Virginia (Newton) Hughes. He married Janet Bergman on October 13, 1962. She survives.
Mr. Hughes was a Senior Material Planner at Harris Corp until his retirement. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. William was a member of the Mart Heinen Club and an avid fan of the Quincy University Men’s and Women’s Basketball. He also enjoyed golfing and walking and was a Yankees and Celtics fan. William was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Diane Kemner and her husband Daniel, Mark Hughes and Tim Hughes and his wife Wendy all of Quincy.
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Kristie Musick and her husband Lance, Evan Kemner and Cayge Hughes.
TWO SISTERS: Roberta Vincent and her husband Gene and Sue Phillips and her husband Andrew.
In-LAWS: Doris Ann Dolan. William Bergman and his companion Barb Markey; Robert Bergman, Dennis Bergman and his wife Rachel, David Bergman and his wife Kathy.
Many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews along with other relatives also survive.

William was preceded in death by his father, Louis Hughes, his mother, Virginia Leckbee, and a nephew Scot Phillips.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Hughes Family will meet with friends following the mass at the Knights of Columbus from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or to the Mart Heinen Club at Quincy University.

    Janet and family. I was so shocked to hear about Bill. I really enjoyed working with and for him at Motorola and Harris.I am sure I was a very big pain in his side somstimes,at least I kept him on his toes.Take care and I’ll call, you later Janet. Bonnie

    Sorry for your loss. Your families are in my prayers. Even though I didn’t see Bill much whenever I did he always said Hi. Bobbie Mom told me about your loss. She is very sorry she can not attend visitation due to the weather.
