William E. Jackson
William E. (Bill) Jackson age 95, of Quincy, died on Tuesday October 5, 2021 Sunset Home. He was born on September 30, 1926, in Quincy, the son of Rosella Jackson.
Bill graduated from Quincy High School in 1943
Bill, as he was known by all, married Lottie Shaw 1943, from this union 9 children were born.
Bill enlisted into the Navy in 1943 and served his country in World War II. Bill moved to Seattle Washington, in 1950 and worked various jobs including work at Pier 91 Navy Shipyard until it was shut down in 1971.
While in Seattle Bill attended First AME Church along with his Mother Rose and brother Ronald.
Bill enjoyed watching sporting events, cruising around town in his car, traveling to Seattle to see family and bowling.
Bill and Lottie moved back to Quincy in 1971. Bill found work at Celetex Company as a Machine Operation Specialist for 20 years, retiring in 1991 at the age of 65.
After his retirement he worked as Crossing Guard for Quincy Schools for a few years, then he won a sweepstakes out of Chicago, a small amount of money but he used it wisely, he stop working altogether and try to enjoy rest of his life on his terms.
God bless you Dad, you have always been there for us no matter the situation, you are missed and always on our minds. We love you.
William Bill Jackson is survived by his Daughter Vickie Jackson and 2 sons, Ronald and Bruce Jackson, also a host of Grandchildren and Great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 10:30 in the Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home. Military rites provided by the American Legion Post #37 and the Navy Funeral Honors Detail. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
